Master’s Degree Programs in Environmental Health Sciences
Master of Public Health (MPH) in Environmental Health Sciences
This is a professional degree oriented toward development of a broad background in public health and professional practice within the environmental health sciences. This degree requires a minimum of 42 hours and successful completion of a practicum experience.
Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) in Environmental Health Sciences
The MSPH is an individualized program of study emphasizing the scientific base of public health and problem-solving research in the environmental health sciences. Students in the MSPH program are encouraged to complete one or more internships as a cooperative venture with industry and/or government.
Master of Science (MS) in Environmental Health Sciences
This is an academic research degree that prepares students for detailed scientific study and includes a flexible scientific curriculum addressing technical issues, data collection, and translation of environmental health research. The degree requires a minimum of 36 hours and requires successful completion of a research-based thesis.
Doctoral Program in Environmental Health Sciences
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Health Sciences
The PhD is a highly specialized academic research degree that emphasizes scientific competence, research skills, and professional development. The doctoral degree requires a minimum of 60 hours of graduate course work (post-baccalaureate), including 12 hours of dissertation preparation.
Financial Support
A limited number of graduate assistantships, traineeships, and Arnold School fellowships are available for students in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Various loans, grants, scholarships, and employment are also available. The applicant should address financial assistance after completion of academic admission. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to directly contact individual faculty members about research assistantships available in their particular area of interest.
