Graduates of the Arnold School of Public Health represent a
society of professionals doing valuable work across many important fields. The
active involvement of our alumni in the continued growth of the Arnold School is
essential. All members of the school’s alumni society are welcome and encouraged
to become a part of the school’s Alumni Council. This formal group meets
throughout the year to discuss issues relevant to our alumni and to the
continued success of the Arnold School.
In order to recognize the many achievements of Arnold School
graduates, the Alumni Council created the Distinguished Alumni Award
which was first awarded in 2000. With the generosity of Norman J. and Gerry
Sue Arnold, this single award has become two: the Norman J. Arnold Alumni
Medal and the Gerry Sue Arnold Alumni Award. The awards were
presented in 2008 to
Dr. Patrick E. McBride
and Dr. Swann Arp Adams respectively.
Past Alumni Council activities and events have included:
-
sponsoring the Winona B. Vernberg distinguished lecture
series
-
hosting social networking opportunities for soon-to-be
graduates of the Arnold School
-
co-sponsoring a luncheon with the Dean's Student Advisory
Council to exchange ideas
